Set up VitalSource Bookshelf App on Windows or Mac
Sign in to VitalSource. Sign in using your VitalSource Bookshelf email. Email Email. Password. Bookshelf Simplifies Digital Learning With more than 2.4 billion yearly page views and 5.7 million users, Bookshelf is the most used digital content delivery platform in the world. It's simple for students and faculty to access and use, yet contains robust tools that keep students focused such as Search, Read Aloud, and Notes and Highlights.

Bookshelf Online App
- In Canvas, go to your course.
- Click on a VitalSource textbook link in Modules.
- Click on the Load in New Window button. This will open a new tab.
- Accept the Terms and Privacy policy.
- Click the Settings (gear) Icon at the bottom of the black navigation bar on the left. (See Figure 1.) (If this does not appear, you may need to click the orange Accept & Close button at the very bottom of the window to clear the Cookie Policy warning.Figure 1.
- Click Read offline with the Bookshelf Desktop App.
- Click the Open VitalSource Bookshelf.app button. (See Figure 2.)Figure 2.
- The VitalSource Bookshelf App will open on your machine. You may see a brief login prompt, but you should either be passed straight through into the app or be prompted to download the book.
- Click on Account > MyAccount. This will open a new browser window.
- Click complete your account. (See Figure 3.)Figure 3.
- Enter the Mizzou email that you use with Canvas.
- You will be prompted to enter your name, a password (which should be different from your Mizzou password), and security question. After you finish that, you have full access to the app. You may go back to Canvas, click on your other textbooks, and add them to the reader, (repeating steps 2, 3, 6, and 7 above for each).
